Little Company Mary Health Care (LCMHC) - Calvary Health Care & the Australian Catholic University (ACU) is seeking an outstanding nursing professional for the inaugural position of Professor of Nursing - Palliative Care.

In collaboration with LCMHC  - Calvary Health Care, the Professor of Nursing - Palliative Care will develop relevant research and scholarship, teaching and learning, and community engagement through the University, The Faculty of Health Sciences and, in particular the School of Nursing & Midwifery.

In enhancing the national and international palliative care research profile of the two organisations the successful candidate will need to:

  • Initiate and conduct leading-edge research that has demonstrable value to, and is consistent with the missions of LCMHC - Calvary Health Care and ACU.
  • Foster and nurture a nursing research culture that supports and enhances the capabilities of clinicians, academics and research students.
  • Pro-actively attract research and consultancy funds to grow new projects and programs.

Along with your significant profile and capabilities in research and clinical palliative care, you will also need strong interpersonal and relationship management skills to build and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships. The capacity to innovate and provide leadership in critical examination of current trends and evidence-based practice in nursing care is important for this role.

The preferred applicant will possess:

  • Ideally a doctoral qualification in  nursing or related discipline.
  • Eligibility for registration as a Registered Nurse with appropriate State or Territory Nursing & Midwifery Boards.
  • Significant academic profile in higher education, including teaching and learning in nursing.
  • Demonstrated strong, relevant publication record.
  • Demonstrated ability to attract research funding.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise research students and research projects, including collaborative research.
  • Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills.
